Full-Time vs Casual Overtime

Full-Time: Overtime applies after 38 hours/week or outside rostered/span hours.
Casuals: Casuals also get overtime if they work more than 10 hours in a day or 38 hours in a week. Note: Casual loading is usually not paid on top of overtime rates (overtime supplants it), but check specific clauses as interpretation varies slightly.

Time Off In Lieu (TOIL)

An employee and employer can agree to take Time Off In Lieu instead of overtime payment. Using the "minute for minute" rule is common, but strict record-keeping is required.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I get overtime on weekends?
